The mind is one of the most powerful tools. Like the body, it requires exercise and can be trained. Be careful what you put into it because those things are produced. You reap what you sow (Galatians 6:7).
One of my own personal (and favorite) quotes I first used when someone had objected to what I was saying, and then proceeded to tell me I couldn’t do something. (That is one of my biggest pet peeves, by the way!) I responded, “Would you allow me the opportunity to prove you wrong?” Amazingly, I have yet to receive “no” as an answer to that question.
Life is a mind game. Just think about that. Folks who refuse to take “no” as an answer have gone on to achieve incredible things. People who have the most crippling obstacles in their lives have not only overcome them, but have gone on to accomplish the impossible.
Take Inky Johnson, for example. Inky played safety for Tennessee and was looking at a career in the NFL. I had the pleasure of hearing him speak just over a year ago. What a story he has to share. He is an amazing person who doesn’t let life’s disappointments set him back. When life served a major physical injury, he decided to use such as an opportunity.
When you’re tempted to give up or surrender your dreams, chew on these for a moment…
You say, “Why?” I say, “Why not?”
You say, “How?” I say, “How can I change the world?”
You say, “What are you doing?” I say, “What can I do better?”
You say, “When?” I say, “When you expect change for the better, it will come.”
You say, “Where?” I say, “Where do we start?”
The power of perspective is all about turning problems into possibilities!
Regarding obstacles that tend to find their way into our paths, on one particular occasion, my husband told me…
“If you lose your train of thought, just buy another ticket!”
~My Husband Jeremy (the clever one)
Instead of seeing a wall as an obstacle, why not look at it as one direction you can’t go vs. millions of directions you can go. Forge a new path! Leave narrow mindedness behind.
“If you CHANGE the way you look at things, the things you look at CHANGE.”
~Dr. Dwayne Dyer
